How much longest will it take for VHS tapes, VCR's and audio cassettes to become "antique" status?
How come much of the old electronics such as 8 track cassettes, NES video game system, BETA video cassettes, Laser Disk, 70s old fashion wood panel tvs, black and white tvs with antenna, and old fashion am radios are all now considered antiques and are now starting to become worth more. Why is VHS hanging on like this? When will VHS become considered antiques? Will it ever happen? Why is all those old electronics keep becoming more and more obsolete and extinct?
VHS hangs on for the simple fact that some ppl have no idea how to turn a dvd player on or how to interface with a computer. VHS should be considered Antique status by the time we Blueray becomes last generation Technology. Whilei can't beleive you asked why they become obsolete i will still answer it for you. all the things you have listed have had 1 of 2 things happen to them. Either they were improved (colorization/larger/smaller) or Their consumer base has chagned making the "old" by being passed over. Also, with our eyes always on the economy, you have to upgrade otherwise eventually everyone has one. once everyone has one of something u don't sell anymore so u have to make something new and better to keep dollars flowing....hope this helped

Port Wine Skin Stains And Laser Technology – New Advances
Clinicians have recently discovered a new application of the Candela Gentlelase, in treating port wine stains. These large, raised birthmarks often occur on the face and cause hardship, especially for younger people. This discovery that the Gentlelase can be used for port wine stain treatment makes treating port wine stain removal much easier for sufferers. We explore the new development here!
What Are Port Wine Stains?
Port wine stains are actually quite a common type of birthmark; they occur in around 0.3% to 0.5% of the entire population. If port wine stain birthmarks are not removed until around a person's 30s or 40s, they become nodulated or bumpy. Scientists aren't sure exactly why they form, but some research suggests that there may be a disturbance in the enervation of the blood vessels in the local area. Since they commonly occur on the face, there has been quite a lot of research into their safe removal.
How Are Port Wine Stains Usually Treated?
Port wine stains are usually treated with a pulsed dye laser, a laser machine that is able to produce incredibly short, very intense bursts of laser energy. Because of the intensity of the laser, there is a much longer recovery period associated with treating port wine stains than with other types of laser machine procedures, especially when a pulsed dye laser is used.
Ordinary treatment of port wine stains can have some side effects. If any normal skin is affected by the laser, blisters develop – this means that port wine stain removal with a pulsed dye laser is not suitable for beginning clinicians. The area usually experiences significant swelling, and has a sunburnt feeling for some days.
The Difference Between Flat and Thick Vascular Lesions
Flat lesions are much easier to treat with a laser, as it is mostly a colour improvement that needs to occur. Port wine stains usually start out flat and pinkish, and gradually thicken and can become nodulated in adulthood.
If they are left untreated, they can start bleeding, or cause loss of function when they are located near a patient's eye, nose or ear.
Improved Port Wine Stain Removal Techniques
Dr Christine Dierickx has actually treated port wine stains with nodules with a Gentlelase (Candela brand laser machine), with better results than a pulsed dye laser. The Gentlelase has a high hemoglobin absorption coefficient and a longer wavelength, which has proven to be ideal for port wine stain removal. Some of the features of the Gentlelase that make it superior to pulsed dye laser for port wine stains include:
* Speed and ease of treatment is greatly improved
* Gentlelase can treat larger spots, with a faster repetition rate
* The attached dynamic cooling device increase patient comfort substantially
Given the Gentlelase's much wider range of applications (including laser hair removal, melasma, café-au lait, sun and age spots, wrinkle reduction and skin tightening and facial veins), it is likely that the Gentlelase will actually become the preferred method of treatment for port wine stains in the future.

Thanks for the update.
I would like to see either or both of these ideas built into sketch models. If there was one to pursue immediately I would say that it is the first as it seems to be more of a canopy. I am interested to know how this turns into an architectural system of construction i.e. a structure that fans and grows outwards with a diminishing size structural element towards the extremities. Similarly how you are activating the space though interaction i.e. sitting . What affect does this have in terms of the light quality? This should be illustrated through the photographic methods that we are using.
I suggest that you go though a process of drawing in a more serious way and then modeling using simple wood or laser cut elements.
Another issue is how you can find a method to rationalize this into a geometric sequence of some sort. The structure will not be a literal translation of the plant but something that lies between it and a more formal system of construction.
The final issue of not is developing a way to understand how the system negotiates the programs that happen at ground level. What are they and how does it grow around areas of occupation, enclosure, darkness, a clearing etc.

Peter – the technology itself is capable of cutting to a certain depth based on its power setting. I could place a type high block into the laser cutter, and it could cut the outline of a letter to the exact depth desired (say 1/8″ inch), but the remaining wood surrounding the outline would have to be removed. With a router, the high velocity bit simply shaves off the excess. The laser cutter, however, works by burning. It could be set to remove the excess wood, but it would take an excessive amount of time and produce a large amount of smoke. When working with wood in the laser cutter, especially for a longer duration, there's also always the risk of a piece catching fire – and no one wants that!
