Wood Engraver Machine
engraving wood vs etching wood?
I have a picture I want to mimic on a piece of wood by doing a sunken relief. I thought about going to a sign shop and getting a piece of sandblasting vinyl cut and using the machine at my job, but I'm worried that it would raise the grain and give me an inconsistent finish, much like an old weathered board. Would I be better off taking the wood to the local engraver and let them use their machine and crave it out?
Side thought, would sign vinyl create a perfect seal so I could just stain the picture on it without the stain bleeding past the edges?
You engrave wood and etch glass.....two completely different techniques.
