Steel Stamps Engraving
I have a question about how to care for swords! please help!?
I just recently bought some Japanese swords off of ebay. I was very happy when they arrived, but the only thing i didn't like about them was the word " CHINA" printed/stamped onto each blade. The word isn't big, just like half an inch, but I don't want the word "CHINA" on my Japanese sword. Does anyone know what i could do get it off without scratching the metal? It's just printed/stamped on, not engraved.
By the way, i dont know if it means anything, but the swords are 440 steel. Thanks.
The word already looks like it has faded away a little. Could that just be were they messed up on the lasering?
Also, I'm not using these to fight with, however, I do get them out once and a while just to mess with. But I never hit anything with them.
440 stainless steel is a bad metal for swords. It has a nasty habit of shattering and injuring anyone near by. If the word is on the surface of the blade it may be fused on with a laser. You can't engrave metal with a laser engraver. To mark it a coating is applied. Then the laser engraver is used. After that the coating is cleaned off, leaving the graphics or words fused to the metal. No matter how the words are no there, I don't think that you will be able to remove them without marring the finish of the blade. The market is flooded with cheap imitation swords made in china. They tend to break, bend or chip easily. Best used as a wall hanger only...

American Gun Company was but one of a half dozen "Distributors" for these particular firearms manufactured by Crescent, but marketed under many different "brand" names including "Victor"..Your pricing however is so far off you are in another country. Crescent shotguns regardless of Model were "mass produced" and have nowhere near the values you stated, nor do they have any significant Collectors value……..
