Projector Lamps Bulb
How do many hours are left on my DLP projector?
In the installation menu it says at the "lamp time" function 8H. Does that mean 8 hours used so far or 8 hours left on the bulb? I bought the projector last year and have not used it a lot.
Assuming it is actually working (or that no-one reset the counter unbeknown to you) it is hours used. Note that at best it is a guide since bulbs generally dim slowly and when they need to be replaced is a judgment call. Also depending on whether you use it at full power or on the eco setting, or how you treat the bulb can make a huge difference to lifetime. See the link for what's necessary to get maximum lifetime.

How to Change a Projector Lamp
Does the age of the projector itself matter?
So what I am wondering is does the age of the actual projector itself matter, or is it the age of the lamp inside it? I just purchased a Hitachi CP-S225 Multimedia Projector from eBay. It comes with a brand new bulb. So will the fact that the projector itself is a few years old make a difference?
It should not, the light emitted by the bulb is what is important. Just make sure everything is clean that will help also
