Physics Questions, please help!?

1)Pulsed lasers used in science and medicine produce very short bursts of electromagnetic energy. If the laser light wavelength is 1062 nm (this corresponds to a Neodymium-YAG laser), and the pulse lasts for 22 picoseconds, how many wavelengths are found within the laser pulse?

How short would the pulse need to be to fit only one wavelength?
___fs

2) A 1.30 m long FM antenna is oriented parallel to the electric field of an EM wave. How large must the electric field be to produce a 1.20 mV (rms) voltage between the ends of the antenna?
____V/m (rms)
What is the rate of energy transport per square meter?
____W/m2

3) The average intensity of a particular TV station's signal is 1.2 10-13 W/m2 when it arrives at a 33 cm-diameter satellite TV antenna.
(a) Calculate the total energy received by the antenna during 7.0 hours of viewing this station's programs.
_____J
(b) What are the amplitudes of the E and B fields of the EM wave?
___E V/m
_______
________

Ok, let's go on with the first problem and the other ones :

1) wavelenght = 1062 nm = 1062*10^-9 meters

time = 22*10^-12 seconds

how many wavelengths are found within the laser pulse?

1062*10^-9 / 22*10^-12 = 48272.7 aprox

How short would the pulse need to be to fit only one wavelength?

1062*10^-9 seconds = 1.062*10^-6 s = 1.062 seconds

2) Electromagnetic wave :

E = electrical field

E*distance = Voltage

E*1.3 = 1.2*10^-3

E = 0.92*10^-3 (V / m)

energy = Eo*E^2

Eo = 8.85*10^-12

energy = 8.85*10^-12*(0.92*10^-3)^2 = 7.5*10^-19 J

Intensity of the wave = rate of energy transport :

Intensity = 1/2*Eo*c*E^2

c = speed of light

Intesity = 1/2*8.85*10^-12*3*10^8*(0.92*10^-3)^2

intensity = 11.24*10^-12 W / m^2

3) Intensity = 1.2 10-13 W/m^2

Power = Intensity*area = 1.2 10^-13*pi*(33/200)^2

Power =0.11*10^-13 Watts

Energy in 7.0 hours :

Power*time = 0.11*10^-12*7*3600 = 27.72*10^-10 J

To find the amplitudes of Em and Bm :

Intensity = 1.2 10^-13 = 1/2*Eo*c*(Em^2)

Em = 9.48*10^-6 (V/m)

remembering = Em = Bm*c

Bm = 3.16*10^-14 (Tesla)

Hope that helps

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Neodymium is a chemical element with the symbol Nd and atomic number 60. It is a soft silvery metal which tarnishes in air. Neodymium was discovered in 1885. It is present in significant quantities in the ore minerals monazite and bastnsite. Neodymium is not found naturally in metallic form or unaccompanied by other lanthanides and it is usually refined for general use. Neodymium has several important applications: it is a constituent of neodymium magnets, which are widely used in motors, loudspeakers and numerous appliances. Neodymium is a popular additive in glass, giving it a characteristic reddishpurple color; this glass is used in lasers emitting infrared light with the wavelength of 1.0541.062 micrometers. Neodymium is also used in Nd:YAG lasers to generate 1.064 micrometer light. This is one of the most significant solidstate lasers. Neodymium is a key component of an alloy used to make highpower lightweight magnets for electric motors of hybrid cars, and in generators for wind turbines. High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles YAG (Yard Auxiliary, General) training vessels are wooden boats built between 1954 and 1958, and based at CFB Esquimalt in Esquimalt, British Columbia, Canada. The vessels are used for training Canadian Forces regular naval officers, naval reservists, and members of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets in basic seamanship, vessel handling, and navigation. According to the Department of National Defence, in 2000, a total of 1830 personnel were deployed on the YAGs for a total of 585 days and steamed over 25,000 nautical miles (46,000 km) in support of training. YAGs displace 70 tonnes, and are divided into five major belowdecks compartments: right forward, a chain locker, then the forward cabin, containing the galley, one of the heads (washrooms) and the officers eating and sleeping areas, as well as the gyroscopic (gyro) compass. Neodymium Magnet

Neodymium Magnet

$68.51

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A neodymium magnet (also known as NdFeB, NIB, or Neo magnet), a type of rareearth magnet, is a permanent magnet made from an alloy of neodymium, iron, and boron to form the Nd2Fe14B tetragonal crystalline structure. This material is currently the strongest type of permanent magnet.The tetragonal Nd2Fe14B crystal structure has exceptionally high uniaxial magnetocrystalline anisotropy (HA 7 teslas). This gives the compound the potential to have high coercivity (i.e., resistance to being demagnetized). The compound also has a high saturation magnetization (Js 1.6 T or 16 kG). Therefore, as the maximum energy density is proportional to Js2 this magnetic phase has the potential for storing large amounts of magnetic energy (BHmax 512 kJ/m3 or 64 MG.Oe), considerably more than samarium cobalt (SmCo) magnets, which were the first type of rare earth magnet to be commercialized . In practice, the magnetic properties of neodymium magnets depend on the alloy composition, microstructure, and manufacturing technique employed. Difficult Physics Question..Need Help!?

If anyone can help me solve these questions it would be appreciated.

Question 1
What is the frequency of an X-ray with wavelength 0.09 nm?

Question 2
Pulsed lasers are used in science and medicine to produce short bursts of EM energy. If a Neodymium-YAG laser produces infrared light with a wavelength of 1052 nm, how many wavelenths (to the nearest whole number) are contained in a short burst of 59 ps?

use frequency=velocity of light/wavelength for 1st
and for second use
no. of wavelengths=velocity of light*time given/wavelength
