Metal Plaques Engraving
Engraving the antler mount plaque?
The antler mounts you can buy at the store include the metal plaque for the date or whatever. How would I engrave on it? Do i use a nail, or is there some other way to do it? Thanks.
also, is there some tool by chance you can buy for future engraving too that's not outrageously expensive?
Call a few jewelry stores or try a trophy shop. You arent going to like the results if you do it yourself, and you'll have to buy a new plaque. Should cost between $15-30 depending on how much you want engraved.

The Story Behind the Names of the Soccer World Cup Trophies
In the sports world, no story is more interesting than the one behind the world cup of soccer. This vessel of victory has been around for about a hundred years and it has an intriguing past. The World Cup of soccer has lasted thru generations of football fans and will continue to be representative of the utmost challenge and victory in sports for years to come. Here is a little of the history behind the world cup of soccer and how it got its varied names.
starting in 1930, the cup of football was called the 'Jules Rimet Trophy' so-named for the man who was the 1st president of the Federation Internationale de soccer organisation ( FIFA ). It definitely was a pretty one of a kind trophy developed by the French Sculptor, Abel Lafleur, who gave it a gold finish on a lapis lazuli ( blue natural stone ) base. The design included a representation of the ancient Greek goddess of victory 'Nike', thus it was originally called 'Victory'. Over time, the trophy was engraved with the names of the nine winners of the planet Cup championship soccer games.
But that isn't where the story of the Earth Cup ends. During World War II, for fear of it being stolen by German nazi troops that had occupied the region where it was stored, the then Italian-born president of FIFA, Dr. Barassi, hid'Victory' under his bed in a shoebox for many years. Despite his courageous efforts to preserve the prize, in 1966, the trophy disappeared while on display in Britain in a public display at Westminster Central Hall. It was found 7 days later, buried under a tree in an urban garden in South Norwood, a good distance away, dug up by a cute dog named 'Pickles'.
However , once more it was subject to a theft in 1973 when it came up missing and wasn't ever seen again to be seen by anyone, including soccer fans. Rumor has it , that the trophy was softened down for its valuable metals. we'll never know for sure how Victory came to her badly timed tragedy from the sector of sports.
That is not the end of the Earth Cup's travels to the legendary halls of soccer celebrity. The design of the more recent trophy was picked from over 50 designs that were submitted to the FIFA by experts from the seven continents. The winning design is a solid eighteen carat gold swirling statue with a double-row malachite base. It was created by Italian sculptor, Silvio Gazzaniga, who went on to design a number of other famous sports world trophies for soccer and baseball.
Nowadays, the World Cup is understood simply as the FIFA World Cup prize, but soccer fans sometimes still reference it as'Victory' in respect of the previous trophy. Only 5 countries have won it so far, the latest being Italy, but there are sufficient spaces for the winning groups names to be engraved onto its base until the year 2038.
