Very often when people give gifts it is to celebrate some kind of special occasion like a birthday or Christmas. But there is one event that must supersede all others, and that is the birth of a precious child. The birth of the next generation is perhaps the most blessed and exciting event in anyone's life and will usually be accompanied by a flurry of gift giving par excellence.

Everyone wants to get in on the act, including colleagues, family members and especially the grandparents. This is perhaps one of those occasions when nothing is too much for the much awaited child or children. The cost of the gift, naturally, is not as important as what the gift conveys. If it is something for the child to wear, then it must be the best. If it is something that the child will eventually play with then most people will choose something with a little educational twist so that the child can explore and learn.

For those with many family members and friends, it may be a good idea to try to organize a little. After all, the baby won't stay small for very long and what is the use of having huge amounts of clothes that the baby will only wear once or not at all? Try to organize gifts so that a certain number gives gifts suitable for the first six months to one year in the baby's life.
