Metal Engraving Gun
Was L. Delp a gunsmith in Darmstadt?
My family has an old antique double-barreled gun. I believe it is a 20-guage shotgun. Engraved on the metal piece between the barrels there is a capital " V " with what looks like a crown ontop of the V. Further up, there is another engraving which reads "L. Delp in Darmstadt". After a couple hours of research, I was unable to turn up any relevant information to "L. Delp in Darmstadt". Does anyone know what this means?
There is, of course, a Darmstadt in Hesse in Germany - just south of Frankfort am Main, but there is another Darmstadt, a very small town in SW Indiana where a group of German Darmstadters migrated.
My suggestion is to go to the library and get a book on guns and check him out that way. You might find nothing, but then you might find something.
A good gun store that carries antique guns might also be a help.

| | Gun $20.99 Adrian and Paul Gurvitz might be better known for their travels with Ginger Baker in the Baker Gurvitz Army, but in the late '60s the brothers helmed the heavy rock trio Gun and caught a whiff of success in the U.K. with their debut single "Race with the Devil." Using the less-ethnic surname Curtis, Adrian (guitar) and Paul (bass) teamed up with drummer Louis Farrell and pounded out some distinctive psych-flavored proto-metal. Floating about in the mix along with the guitar pyrotechnics and drum workouts are brass and string sections that aren't always welcome, but "Race with the Devil" uses these potentially square instruments well, adding texture to an otherwise brutal stomp. "Yellow Cab Man" is the highlight of the set, a hard pop number with a buzzing guitar hook and frantic, heavily distorted soloing from Adrian. The obligatory freak-out comes with the finale, the 11-minute "Take Off" which begins with the sound of jet roar, then explodes into feedback, drum solos, backward guitars, and silly psychedelic exhortations to "take a deep breath and try to count to five." Elsewhere are half-baked orchestral interludes and some questionable songwriting chops, but the band is truly firing on all cylinders throughout and their interplay is solid like a fist. When Gun pours it on, the results are visceral and exciting enough to forgive the occasional wrong turn. The album artwork is impressively grotesque for the era, a flaming mass of squirming demons that wouldn't be out of place on a Slayer T-shirt today. There isn't any Satanism invoked in the grooves of Gun, but it's a lost gem for fans of the power trio format. ~ Fred Beldin |

I own a remington model 11, 12 gauge shotgun and i can't figure out what a symbol means on the side???????
on the side of the gun engraved in the metal it says USA and next to it is a bomb with a lit fuse, does anyone know what that means, my father told me it might have had somethin to do wit the army.......
the model 11 was the first auto loading shotgun produced in the USA . it was introduced in 1905 and production was stopped in 1947. 850,000 were made if it is a Browning military version (still made by Remington) only 65,000 of these were made and it is valued a lot higher. Only the browning model was used in the military . the marking more than likley came from an independent gunsmith or was kinda like a brand for the owner to recognize in the event of theft

Did he write you a personal check? I wonder if hes wanting you to send a cashiers check and then his original payment will bounce and youll be out double the amount.
