Laser Wood Etching
How do I turn a "sketch" photograph into a stencil that I can use to etch finished wood?
I have a shot a of beautiful girl I know, that I had "Sketched". I want it etched into this raw chunk of dark mahogany that I have. Is there a way to have it imprint the stencil into the finish, so I can carve it myself?
I'm picturing an etching of the picture into the finish not an actual carving of the picture. Like laser etched metals.
Laser etched metal requires having a computer file for the computer running the laser to follow. There is probably no reason it couldn't be done with a wood finish - other than the other fact it would be fragile and might disappear with waxing.
The closest to etched metal would probably making a photo mask for sandblasting and do a shallow carving job on the wood and then color or bleach the carved area and apply protective finish over it.
