Laser Module Diode
Is it fine to use an 808 nm laser diode with a 780 nm lens and module?
Is this safe to do, and will this adversely affect the performance of the laser?
It won't affect laser performance. I would check the glass index specifications of the lens to see if there is any chromatic shift you might not anticipate or run a raytrace model with lens design code. A 22nm difference in wavelength is not that big a deal.

Yu Suzuki: I’ve used a lens from an Aixiz laser module and that works very well. I have a ton lying around from DIY laser projects, so that was the first thing I’ve tested. Also, to the person who did this video – the laser is a lot more fun than the lens. Stick a constant current driver on it and put it in the same Aixiz module I was talking about and you have a high power focusable burning laser.
