What kind of steel would have been used in my ankle surgery?

I recently had surgery to repair a broken ankle and the doctor allowed me to have a nurse take pictures. The steel plate in my leg is shiny like what i would assume is stainless steel as are the several screws. There is a serial number visible on the plate and i would like to find out what it means or if it would determine the type of material or if it means anything at all. The number is "5579597" it appears to be laser etched into the face of the plate. Thanks.

The number is probably a serial number or part number.

It could be either 316LN stainless steel, or titanium. There are a number of titanium alloys that are popular for surgical implants.

What kind of aluminum does Apple use in their products?

I would like to Use my schools Laser Cutter to etch my MacBook Pro. My school requires a Material Safety Data Sheet. If I know the specific Alloy name of the Aluminum, I can find a manufacture that will have this data sheet. Does anyone know the specific Aluminum Alloy?

Your MacBook is made of 6061 aluminum alloy. It may be anodized, and you can check that with an ohmmeter- an anodized layer will be nonconductive.
