Is laser engraving done on the spot for iPods?
What I mean is, is it instantaneous? Can I just go into an Apple Store, pick up an iPod Touch, and have it engraved on the spot, or do I have to wait for sometime?
Thanks for all your answers, they were helpful. So no waltzing into an Apple Store for me...
You order if from the website and it's free but takes time.

Does laser engraving an Apple laptop void the warranty?
There is a laser engraving kiosk at a mall near me and they say that they can laser engrave my MacBook Pro. It looks pretty cool, and I was wondering if this would void my AppleCare.
The warranty applies to materials and workmanship, so lasering the surface of the container should make NO difference. As long as you do not open the container and fool around with the guts, you should be good to go. The laser DOES cause intense heat, which is why it works as it does, so that may have an effect on the guts AND void the warranty, so be careful...
What camera do you use?

It sure does. As you know, in house and custom manufacture is a big part of my Trophy business in Sydney. To start with each department; Laser, Sand Blasting etc have there own production schedule.
You can create your own componentry using part of materials. Heres a few examples.
Sublimation plaques:
To a bill of materials: Add a the timber plaque then add the sublimation sheet. The program will ask what size the sub plate should be and then works out the cost for that part of sheet based on how many it could get from 1 sheet.
Custom made Laser Trophy.
Just add the different sheets and enter the sizes to make up your custom design: say 10mm clear, 6mm clear, 10mm black, whatever you need. AwardPro will work out the cost and allow you to refine the original component description so that when you print the job sheet everything is fully described.
Another favy of mine is Name Tags:
For Laser engraved name tags I set up the product with a generic laser ply and generic badge finding. Then when customer orders you add it to there sales order and because the parts are tagged as generic you get prompted with: which colour stock do you want and which badge finding. So you have 1 product that handles all the variations at the sales counter.
Theres' also stuff like costing analysis and labour cost components if you want to use them. Hope that provides some insight. Please give me a call if you'd like to get more detail.
