You can also use a stencil and us an etching cream. All you have to do is place a stencil on the glass and dab on etching cream and wait 10 to 20 min then wash off and the etching cream leaves the glass white. I do this all the time and cut out the stencil on my cricut on vinyl. It is easy to do and last. It is not as thick as it you did sand blasting but it does look good and last. You can also buy the stencil already made at a craft store along with the etching cream.
