FMIL wants to borrow things from my wedding?

My FMIL wants to borrow champagne glasses that I'm having at my wedding for her daughter's (whose not even engaged yet) wedding. I was going to have the blank glasses engraved with my attendants names and let them keep them. But this morning my fiance wakes me up to tell me, "hey mom wants me to ask you something but I know this may upset you.....mom wants to know if she can have the champagne glasses after our wedding for sis's wedding"
my response was, "she's not even engaged."

he said, "Well I'd rather give everyone a beer mug anyway so just give them to mom now."

What do I do girls? BTW this is the same mother-in-law who has been deciding everything for me without asking. The lady even booked the hall and two other vendors as soon as we chose the date.....she's also already claimed other decorations and things that might be able to be reused after the wedding.

I would tell her that unfortunately, you have already promised the glasses to your attendants. But here is where you bought the glasses if she wants to look there for the next wedding.

Wedding Gifts They Will Remember

Buying wedding gifts can be tricky. There is often a list but many people like to get something which is not on the list so that they can give the bride and groom a personal gift which is unique and thought of for them. It is not always good etiquette to buy something which is not on the list but if you know the couple well and can come up with a gift that you know they will love, then why not. For example, if you have a special talent for something then why not give them a gift showcasing that. Perhaps if you are a glass engraver you could give them a matching pair of glasses or if you are an artist you could paint a picture of them.

 

These days photography s very popular and therefore why not give a photo gift. You could just give them a lovely framed photo but these days there are all sorts of ways to display photographs like perhaps photo mugs or something like that. It would certainly be something unique and something which would be special to them and also show your talent off too. It would be a great way to show them how much you have thought of them and how you wanted to create something very special for them. Of course not everyone has this sort of talent and in these cases it is usually best to stick to the list. However, if the list is just too expensive then there are things that you can get which would always be acceptable but not cost too much money.

 

Something like this could be a keepsake box. They would be able to keep all of their wedding memories in it, things like cards, invitations and other things. It would be able to either be kept on show or hidden away depending on whether they like to display things like pretty boxes or not. Other ideas could be something like a photo album with the pictures in it that you took at the wedding, but perhaps a digital photo frame might be a more up to date equivalent. Of course if you want to give it to them at the wedding, then you will need to find alternative pictures of them to put in it – maybe ones that you have taken while you have known them or leave it blank for them to put in their own photos when they are ready to.
