Engraving Printers Invitations

What is the proper way to print & scan wedding invitations? Where do I put the card at on the printer?

I am helping my cousin with her wedding invitations. I have the format of what she wants & cut & glued the wording to a blank engraved card. When scanning it, the card start going crooked while it prints. Need a better, less stressful way to do this. Please advice & help me out! Thank you very much!

I'm guessing that the invite is shifting while it's being scanned due to the lid moving it slightly when you close the scanner. If that's true, then
You could:
1. Use double stick tape to have the invite stick to a larger piece of paper, this may pervent the invite from shifting when you close the lid. It should be less crooked, or not crooked at all.

Or

2. Have the invite scanned crooked. When the preview shows up, crop it and adjust the sizing of the 'official scan'. Modify if necessary through photoshop or illustrator.

Engraved Inauguration Invitations

Is thermography printing bad for the environment?

I'm having some invitations printed and was looking into thermography as a less expensive alternative to engraving. But someone had recently told me that it's bad for the environment -- and cannot be legally done in California (Californian printers have to send such work out-of-state to be done). I can't find anything online to confirm this -- does anyone have any knowledge of this? Thanks!
I'm not sure of the details of thermography, but I know what it looks like. It's the raised printing that's not engraving. With engraving, I think they actually create some sort of press and then like emboss the paper (and then the back of the paper is like indented in). With thermography, I think they apply something on top of the paper to make the text raised -- and the back of the paper is flat (this is how you can tell the difference between engraving and thermography). I hope this helps!

Yes, it's bad. The paper has chemicals in it to alow the thermography to occur. They won't kill you in the form theya re in at the end user level, but the manufacturing of it creates a lot of toxic chemicals.
