Engraving Metal Machines

I have seen necklaces with pieces of metal gold usually with faces engraved What kind of machine does that?
I have seen it in disney world. They first take a picture and then a maquine engraves that image in gold that you can use in a necklace for example.
this is not doubt a CAD program that is computer generating the image and then lazer engraving the image... Quick and easy, but doesn't stand well up to a lot of wear.. The lazer cuts very shallow compared to someone who hand engraves

| | Angry Machines $16.79 Originally released on Mayhem in 1996, then reissued by Spitfire in 2000, Angry Machines was Dio's first effort away from Warner/Reprise, and it does find Ronnie James Dio looking for subtle ways to push into new territory. The lyrics mostly avoid Dio's familiar medieval-fantasy D&D obsessions, instead directing their attention to more real-world concerns (albeit with the same sense of drama). Similarly, there aren't many of the gothic neo-classicisms present on the band's best-known output; and while there are a few progressive sections, Angry Machines is more of a straightforward metal record, full of pounding rhythms and guitars along with plenty of wailing by Ronnie James Dio. The main problem is that the band often seems to concentrate on sound more than songwriting -- the album sounds good while it's playing, but not enough of the riffs or melodies stick with the listener afterwards to judge it a complete return to form. Yet there are enough moments here to make it worth the time of Dio diehards. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi Performers: Jeff Pilson - Bass; Ronnie James Dio - Vocals; Scott Warren - Keyboards; Tracy G - Guitar; Vinny Appice - Drums |

| | Pain Machines $10.38 This handy CD summarizes the career of Colin of Arabia to date: four tracks from a single; their half of three different split EPs; and one compilation track; plus a heap of live tracks, including many songs not featured in studio versions. Colin of Arabia's brand of hardcore has a slightly punkier edge than that played by most of their more metal-minded brethren. These guys really sound like they could have been playing shows at CBGB in the brief window between the 1,000-mph Minor Threat/Bad Brains/MDC years and the rise of N.Y.C. bands like Agnostic Front, Sick of It All, Gorilla Biscuits, et al. Their gang-shouted background vocals owe more to Oi! than Biohazard; their tempos seem intended to inspire actual slamdancing rather than the ritualized poses of catharsis that are the modern mosh pit. The live tracks sound like they were recorded on someone's cell phone, but that only serves to emphasize the raw impact of the band's on-stage fury. These guys aren't trying to do much, if anything, beyond carving out a space for themselves in the U.S. hardcore scene, but this disc will please scene diehards as well as folks who just stumble across it. ~ Phil Freeman, Rovi |

| | Machines in Routine $11.18 The thing about hardcore (and death metal and math rock and grindcore) is that the clichés have a lot of gravity, and they have a tendency to suck all musicians who venture near into a vortex of frantic sameness. Some bands resist the attraction of cliché better than others, of course, and some of them do so by not sticking too long with any one of those styles, breaking the pull by changing directions quickly and without warning. That's more or less Emmanuel.7's approach: the band takes its growly vocal cues from grind, its tempos from hardcore, some of its structural ideas from math rock, and others from plain old rock & roll. Their debut album was originally slated to appear on the Ides of March label, but business difficulties led to its appearance instead on the Thorp label. It shows Emmanuel.7 to be a relatively mature band for its age; song titles like "He Died at 47," "A/C Separation," and "Playing a Joke on the Jester" all indicate a rather unusual mindset for a band of this general persuasion, though the found-sound interludes (most of which sound like they're taken from 1950s corporate training films) imply a pretty facile sort of social commentary. The album's headlong roar settles down somewhat toward the end of the program, giving way to an almost meditative (comparatively speaking) mood. This is a fascinating if imperfect album from a young band that bears watching. ~ Rick Anderson, Rovi Performers: Andy Nelson - Drums; Darrell Tauro - Vocals; Evan Waletzko - Bass; Ian Kauffman - Guitar; Phil Nelson - Organ; Ryan Keefe - Guitar; Todd Reynolds - Vocals |
| | Ghost of the Salt Water Machines $10.38 If thrash brought punk into metal, hardcore brought metal into punk -- and hardcore-related music reached a whole new level of metallic viciousness with the metalcore explosion of the 1990s and 2000s. Metalcore is not for the faint of heart; in fact, metalcore has taken hardcore to such a ferocious extreme that some moshers who have no problem with '80s hardcore find metalcore to be too heavy, too harsh, and too abrasive. And those who feel that way about metalcore will certainly be intimidated by Architect's second album, Ghost of the Salt Water Machines, which is best described as metalcore with a touch of noise rock. Between lead singer Keith Allen's screaming vocals, Architect's claustrophobic density, and the band's unapologetically violent musicianship, this is truly a nasty, clobbering sledgehammer of a CD. It is also a very sociopolitical effort; in contrast to all the metalcore bands that are angrily introspective, Architect are angry about social and political matters, and Allen is in an absolute rage as he screams his way through scorching tracks like "House of 1000 Habeas Corpses," "Death and Taxes," "The Dog and Pony Show," and "Uninventing the Wheel." Unlike screamo discs, Ghost of the Salt Water Machines doesn't offer an extreme vocals/clean vocals contrast or a brutality/melody contrast; this 2008 recording is devoid of mercy. Metalcore experienced considerable saturation in 2008 -- actually, hardcore-related music in general (be it metalcore or screamo/melodic hardcore/post-hardcore) became more plentiful than ever in the 2000s -- and 2008 had more than its share of forgettable metalcore albums. But Ghost of the Salt Water Machines, although not groundbreaking, is a worthwhile disc that is definitely a cut above many of 2008's metalcore releases. ~ Alex Henderson, Rovi |

| | Under the Silver of Machines $11.18 By citing influences ranging from '80s glam to '90s grunge, heavy metal to hardcore, Orlando's Last Winter effectively cover all the bases for entry into the 2000s post-emo netherworld -- without actually having to admit that they're really just playing good ol' pop-rock. Obviously, this state of affairs won't help them stand out from the competition in a decade of convoluted scenes and fast-expiring trends, but their quite natural (if not exactly astounding) songwriting instincts just might. However, even though almost every song on the band's second album, 2007's Under the Silver Machines, makes the grade when it comes to sculpted hooks and catchy melodies, it's hard to say whether they possess the sheer, anthemic qualities or unforgettable choruses that might command the hearts of legions of 15-year-olds. Anything is possible, though, and if indistinctive bands such as Bad English managed to play the "averages" capably enough to carve out their own small piece of the glam metal pie in their day, there's no reason to think that Last Winter couldn't do the same amid their generation's mainstream equivalent. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi Performers: Josh Calapa - Guitar (Rhythm), Guitar; Cameron Mizell - Vocals; Chris Pock - Drums; Noon Blue - Vocals |
| | MACHINA/The Machines of God $14.38 Any record called MACHINA/The Machines of God couldn't be a pure rock album. The title suggests this is a concept album, which are at least a little progressive. As it happens, MACHINA is a lot progressive. Though it's damn near impossible to figure out the story line, the album plays like a concept album, with each track floating into the next, winding up with an album artier than Adore. That's not a liability, since the Smashing Pumpkins were always arty, yet Billy Corgan was very clever in camouflaging his artiness. "The Everlasting Gaze" rocks more overtly than anything on Adore, and the storybook-styled artwork deliberately evokes memories of Mellon Collie. Enthusiasts will find moments to admire throughout MACHINA, but ultimately, they might be disappointed with a record that crosses Mellon Collie with Adore without relying on the strengths of either. MACHINA appears to be ornately straightforward, yet as it progresses, it becomes increasingly insular. By the time it gets to "Heavy Metal Machine," designed as the record's crushing centerpiece, its weaknesses become apparent. "Heavy Metal Machine" should be a brutal, bruising experience, yet it's toothless, processed within an inch of its life. It becomes clear that the chief strength of the album is production. Not once does MACHINA ever feel like the work of a band; it feels as if it was painstakingly assembled by Corgan and Flood. The Smashing Pumpkins have always been Corgan's band, but they've never sounded like a solo vehicle the way that they do here. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi Performers: Howard Willing - Recorder; Mike Garson - Piano |

Creating a Cutout on Metal Using a U-MARQ Engraving Machine
How does one strike metal coin-like tokens by hand as a home hobby?
This includes engraving dies and procuring the proper planchets, which could well be gold or silver, but more commonly, bronze or nickel. It is not to counterfeit, but to have personally-made tokens, like they use with game machines.
You can't make them as cheap as a private mint. It would cost a fortune for the die making machines, as well as a minting press. Even if you did the ancient thing of two dies, a pair of tongs and a hammer, you still have to know how to harden the dies you make. Go get a book on the minting process and you will see it is not an easy think to do and it is very expensive. If you are any good at making molds you can cast your own tokens. The Chinese cast billions of cash coins using sand molds. I commend you on wanting to try but the cost of your own mint will be expensive and casting takes a knack. Good luck.

Engraving can be applied on almost any surface or material e.g. silver, gold, steel, glass, copper & plastic plus many other materials and metals. Engraving passé can take on a number of different forms including illustration, writing & numerous.
