is it ok to engrave my ipod?

I want to give someone an ipod as a gift and i would like to have it engraved. however i would like to engrave more than a couple lines allowed by apple by ordering online. would it ruin the hard drive or something if i have it engraved by someone else? im just worried that the vibrations or something from the engraving tool could damage it. or would it be a better idea to open it and give the back cover alone to the engraver so the ipod doesnt get messed up, or is that not nessessary?

I thinks it's completely safe to engrave an iPod. It is done by laser by Apple and so it don't cause much vibration. Even though you want to engrave it by someone else than Apple, they would do it using a dremel. But it'd be better if you use a laser for it. Lasers dont generate pressure, but do make excessive heat when vector cutting [cutting a line]. rastering [engraving] with a laser, however, is a pretty safe process that shouldnt damage your iPod.
