help with woodwork ROTARY TOOL?
can a rotary tool drill into wood that is about 4 inch thick
i need a drill and a engraver kit
will a rotary drill do both or do i need to buy them separate (pillar drill and a engraver kit)

A pillar drill would be over the top. A decent heavy duty corded drill with a low ratio (low speed) gearbox will cope easily. Half the battle is a good sharp drill bit. For smaller holes you can get wood bits with a locating point. For quick larger holes use a flat bit. For the biggest holes use auger bits.
The drill specification will tell you it's capacity by diameter for drilling timber (and masonry). Have a look through Screwfix's catalogue and bear in mind that the better quality stuff you buy the longer it will last.
