Would The Sims 3 run slow on a laptop?

I'm going to buy the new Sims when it comes out on June 2nd and I was thinking about putting it on my laptop. I want a Sony Vaio FW laptop and I was wondering if my Sims 3 will slow down my computer more than if i were to put it on my desktop? And if the fan would be really noisy?

I'm going to customize my sony and these are the system specs:

Video Standard
LCD 16.4" (XBRITE-ECO™)
QuickBooks Simple Start
320GB SATA Hard Disk Drive [7200 rpm]
Windows Live™ OneCare 90-Day Trial
None
No Engraving
Large Capacity Battery
ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3650 with 512MB vRAM
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53GHz)
WLAN (802.11a/b/g/n) with integrated Bluetooth® technology
Blu-ray Disc™ Read Only Drive
Microsoft® Office 2007 Home/Student
Black
Microsoft® Windows Vista® Home Premium 64-bit
4GB DDR2-SDRAM (DDR2-800, 2GBx2)

Total: $1,524.99
LOL yeah...you pretty much repeated my question. Well just keep coming back and you might get an answer.

On that setup it shouldn't have any problems although you may not get the higher resolutions to run smooth, but who needs 1920x1200 anyway? A laptop and desktop format makes no difference in discerning a computer's speed, only what parts are in it matters.

If you drop the blu-ray disc drive you can probably get that about 200$ cheaper, if price is a factor.

PS: your name is hilarious

Weird Problem with Booting up my Computer?

I haven't used this computer for a while. It's a Dell DHM Desktop and it's quite a few years old.

Anyways, today I tried booting it up and this is what happened:
1. I plugged the power cord into the computer, and the fan went on. Also, the power button in the front turned yellow and a little green light with a "bin" like engraving next to it turned green.
2. I tried pressing the power button to turn it on, but it just stayed in that mode, no matter what I tried to do.

So, any idea what's wrong with the computer? I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to start the fan only when it's plugged in, not turned on O_o or I might be wrong.

Thanks in advance!
Here's the computer:

To find the problem, lets remove everything off the motherboard except the power supply cords. This includes all drives. Leave front panel plugged in. If you need video card plug back in and 1 stick memory. Now try to start your computer. Do you see the BIOS screen? If no then you have bad power supply or motherboard or memory. Try other stick of memory, Runs now? If still no good chance you have bad motherboard or power supply or CPU. You will need voltage meter to check the voltage on different pins on the power supply or take repair shop and let them test the Power Supply.
If motherboard or CPU bad then trash the computer.

If yes, computer turn on, turn off and add one of memory stick, then test. Repeat until you have all the memory replaced on the motherboard. Then plug in any PCI card, just one at time. If the computer stops working then remove and try again. You have found the problem part. If you need it, replace. If you wish continue until you have only the drives left. Plug in CD first then hard drives.

Then completed you will have working machine or one for the trash can.
