Custom Wood Engraving

What is the best way to custom engrave a personal message (i.e. name) onto a wooden guitar?

I have a finished wooden acoustic guitar and want to engrave a personal message (font is not important) into the wood of the face. I am obviously willing to refinish the engraved area once the process is complete. Are there any services offered (i.e. engraving) through which this can be done? If not, what is the best way to do this? I am open to any and all suggestions!

There are the little wedding stores in malls that do personal engravings, I'm not sure if you can bring in your stuff and have them do it, but I don't see why not.
