I have a custom motorcycle and the vin number is on a sticker, I want to get it etched or engraved on a metal plate. How do I do this, can a c.n.c. machine do this? Any ideas?

Angry Machines $16.79 Originally released on Mayhem in 1996, then reissued by Spitfire in 2000, Angry Machines was Dio's first effort away from Warner/Reprise, and it does find Ronnie James Dio looking for subtle ways to push into new territory. The lyrics mostly avoid Dio's familiar medieval-fantasy D&D obsessions, instead directing their attention to more real-world concerns (albeit with the same sense of drama). Similarly, there aren't many of the gothic neo-classicisms present on the band's best-known output; and while there are a few progressive sections, Angry Machines is more of a straightforward metal record, full of pounding rhythms and guitars along with plenty of wailing by Ronnie James Dio. The main problem is that the band often seems to concentrate on sound more than songwriting -- the album sounds good while it's playing, but not enough of the riffs or melodies stick with the listener afterwards to judge it a complete return to form. Pain Machines $10.38 This handy CD summarizes the career of Colin of Arabia to date: four tracks from a single; their half of three different split EPs; and one compilation track; plus a heap of live tracks, including many songs not featured in studio versions. Colin of Arabia's brand of hardcore has a slightly punkier edge than that played by most of their more metal-minded brethren. These guys really sound like they could have been playing shows at CBGB in the brief window between the 1,000-mph Minor Threat/Bad Brains/MDC years and the rise of N.Y.C. bands like Agnostic Front, Sick of It All, Gorilla Biscuits, et al. Their gang-shouted background vocals owe more to Oi! than Biohazard; their tempos seem intended to inspire actual slamdancing rather than the ritualized poses of catharsis that are the modern mosh pit. The live tracks sound like they were recorded on someone's cell phone, but that only serves to emphasize the raw impact of the band's on-stage fury. These guys aren't trying to do much, if anything, beyond carving out a space for themselves in the U.S. hardcore scene, but this disc will please scene diehards as well as folks who just stumble across it. ~ Phil Freeman, Rovi

Some bands resist the attraction of cliché better than others, of course, and some of them do so by not sticking too long with any one of those styles, breaking the pull by changing directions quickly and without warning. That's more or less Emmanuel.7's approach: the band takes its growly vocal cues from grind, its tempos from hardcore, some of its structural ideas from math rock, and others from plain old rock & roll. Their debut album was originally slated to appear on the Ides of March label, but business difficulties led to its appearance instead on the Thorp label. It shows Emmanuel.7 to be a relatively mature band for its age; song titles like "He Died at 47," "A/C Separation," and "Playing a Joke on the Jester" all indicate a rather unusual mindset for a band of this general persuasion, though the found-sound interludes (most of which sound like they're taken from 1950s corporate training films) imply a pretty facile sort of social commentary. The album's headlong roar settles down somewhat toward the end of the program, giving way to an almost meditative (comparatively speaking) mood. Ghost of the Salt Water Machines $10.38 If thrash brought punk into metal, hardcore brought metal into punk -- and hardcore-related music reached a whole new level of metallic viciousness with the metalcore explosion of the 1990s and 2000s. Metalcore is not for the faint of heart; in fact, metalcore has taken hardcore to such a ferocious extreme that some moshers who have no problem with '80s hardcore find metalcore to be too heavy, too harsh, and too abrasive. And those who feel that way about metalcore will certainly be intimidated by Architect's second album, Ghost of the Salt Water Machines, which is best described as metalcore with a touch of noise rock. Between lead singer Keith Allen's screaming vocals, Architect's claustrophobic density, and the band's unapologetically violent musicianship, this is truly a nasty, clobbering sledgehammer of a CD. It is also a very sociopolitical effort; in contrast to all the metalcore bands that are angrily introspective, Architect are angry about social and political matters, and Allen is in an absolute rage as he screams his way through scorching tracks like "House of 1000 Habeas Corpses," "Death and Taxes," "The Dog and Pony Show," and "Uninventing the Wheel." Unlike screamo discs, Ghost of the Salt Water Machines doesn't offer an extreme vocals/clean vocals contrast or a brutality/melody contrast; this 2008 recording is devoid of mercy. Metalcore experienced considerable saturation in 2008 -- actually, hardcore-related music in general (be it metalcore or screamo/melodic hardcore/post-hardcore) became more plentiful than ever in the 2000s -- and 2008 had more than its share of forgettable metalcore albums.
