Where can I engrave a logo on my products (laptops)?

I build laptops. I would like to engrave my logo on the top aluminum lid. Where should I go to get that done? Also, where can I have different logos silkscreened on the product (like the dolby logo on your TV or DVD player)

I'm guessing that engraving on each lid would add a lot to your manufacturing cost. Are the aluminum lids stamped out of sheet aluminum? If so you could probably have a die made to have the logo put in as part of the stamping process. I'm thinking that would still add more to your cost than you want to add.

You could also ask some of the companies that make advertising specialties such as ballpoint pens that are laser engraved. Maybe their machines could do it for you cheaper than traditional metal engraving.

A few years ago one of my companies was offered logos for computers. The logos were adhesive backed. They were 1 inch squares to be set into a 1 inch square recess in the sheet metal of the case (part of the stamping process), The logo was printed on a thin surface - paper or plastic - and then had a clear resin molded over it to a thickness at the center of about 1/8 inch. The company offering them was from Hong Kong. I don't have their name anymore - we weren't manufacturing so I didn't save it, but check with your sources for boards and chips and cases - they should be able to help you.

Switching to a ported bit for Western Pleasure and Reining?

I have been riding my 7 year old Quarter Horse in this bit - http://www.rods.com/p/7205,229_7-Engraved-Aluminum-Shank-Snaffle-Bit.html - but my riding instructor has recommended that I advance him up to a bit with a low port.

How would you go about switching?
My friend uses a ported D ring snaffle on her eventing horse (not a kimberwick, but similar) - should I start with something like that? Or just start using a ported bit and let him get used to it?

Usually when you switch from a snaffle to a curb, you use a transition bit. It's basically a snaffle with shanks so that they start learning about the leverage and curb action. It looks like that's what you already have so I think your horse would be fine to now put a low ported curb bit on. The transition should be fairly easy for you both, I think, because you are halfway there already.

Shannon: She needs to switch bits if she is going to show competitively. Western pleasure and reining shows don't allow snaffles...unless you have a "green" horse (usually under 5).
